Emotional Account of flickr.com

In coming up with an emotional account of flickr I approached my friend Blake to check the site out and tell me how he felt as he navigated its various functions.

Well, Blake really likes cats, so the first thing he did was use the search function to look for pictures of cats. He was quite pleased with the search results and particularly enjoyed the fact that he could click on the little slideshow icon and make his way through the pictures in a more visually enjoyable than simply scrolling through them on a webpage.

Next, Blake clicked on the ‘groups’ tab and used the search function there to find (keeping with the theme) groups that have been created for various categories of cat photos. He was again quite pleased in how easy it was to find some “flippin’ sweet” cat pictures. He appreciated the social aspect of groups in that it was very easy to find people that have similar interests on the site.

Blake also tried the ‘Explore’ feature, which provides semi-random pictures from content that is considered interesting, which is based on how many users favorite each photo. He said he enjoyed the feeling of anticipation from not knowing what he was going to be shown next.

Overall, Blake did not express any negative feelings towards his experience using the site. He said that he is going to use flickr a lot more than he used to, because he didn’t realize how much interesting content there is and how well it is presented.
