Design sketch

itunes-sketch2

My design is having a dropbox that the user can select the categories that the front page focuses on. Some people might be more interested in apps than music, so the user can choose to have the page show only apps (bestseller, new releases, recommendations) when they open up the store.

Looking at iTune store from different countries shows that each country focus on the most popular demographics of that particular country. I think allowing individual users to select their own demographic makes the page more friendly and more likely to have the things they are interested in.

If someone chooses music, would they be able to choose the genre, or even a certain band? Or would you have it be just “music” in general? Would the iTunes Store in this case put up music based on what you listen to/have on your computer? Other than those things it seems like a great sketch, imo.

I think that everyone has a different deciding factor for buying music or apps. For example for me, I buy music based on the band but for apps I may buy based on popularity. So yeah you are right, if someone selects music, they should be able to choose what they like to see in the context of music, then they could switch to apps and have a completely different layout.

Does iTunes Store’s appearance really vary from country to country?

Oh, yeah, actually it varies. What I found out is only few countries have access to music and movies, while many countries have only Apps available to buy.
